The Prequalified Lawyer will work on a range of legal and consultancy assignments, offering expertise in specific legal fields as per the firm’s and client’s needs. This role is crucial to ensuring that Gaashaan Legal delivers timely and accurate legal services.
Purpose of the Role
The Prequalified Lawyer will provide expert legal advice and representation, handle legal cases, and assist the senior legal team with research, drafting, and review of legal documents. The lawyer will be called upon as needed to support specific legal projects and cases across various legal domains.

Under the direction and supervision of Gaashaan Legal and Consultancy Services Firm Senior management and Executive team the prequalified Lawyers will be responsible for the following tasks (but not limited to):
- Legal Advice and Representation:
- Provide specialized legal advice to clients, offering solutions that comply with applicable laws and meet clients’ needs.
- Represent clients in legal proceedings, negotiations, and dispute resolution processes.
- Manage assigned legal cases from start to finish, ensuring a high level of client satisfaction.
- Legal drafting Documentation:
- Draft, review, and revise legal documents including policies laws contracts, agreements, legal opinions, and court submissions.
- Ensure that all documentation adheres to the latest legal standards and is properly executed.
- Research and Case Analysis:
- Conduct in-depth legal research on various issues as directed by senior partners.
- Analyze case law, legal precedents, and statutory requirements to support ongoing cases and provide informed advice.
- Prepare legal memoranda and reports based on findings.
- Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure that all legal actions taken on behalf of clients are in full compliance with national laws and international legal frameworks, where applicable.
- Identify and mitigate legal risks in client transactions, advising on potential exposures and strategies to reduce liabilities.
- Collaboration and Support:
- Work closely with senior partners, legal teams, and clients to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
- Support senior lawyers in complex cases and participate in legal strategy discussions.
- Attend client meetings, court hearings, and arbitration sessions as necessary.
- Training and Capacity Building:
- Participate in internal training sessions to stay updated on legal developments and best practices.
- Share expertise with junior associates and other team members as part of the firm’s mentoring and professional development programs.
Skills and qualification
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized university. A Master’s Degree in Law (LLM) or relevant specialization is an advantage.
- Member of the Somalia Bar Association and a valid practicing license in
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in legal practice, with a focus on specific areas such as corporate law, commercial law, litigation, criminal law, etc.
- Demonstrated experience in handling complex legal cases, including court proceedings and negotiations.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and legal research skills.
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with clients and colleagues.
- Proficiency in legal research tools, software, and document management systems.
- Language Proficiency:
- Fluency in English and Somali language is essential for communication with clients and stakeholders.

- External: Clients, Court Officials, External Legal Counsel, Government Regulatory Bodies

- Timely and accurate delivery of legal advice and documents.

- Compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Duration and Availability
This is a prequalified, on-call position. The Prequalified Lawyer will be engaged as needed for specific legal projects or cases. Terms regarding work hours and schedules will be outlined in the engagement contract.
Confidentiality
The Prequalified Lawyer is required to maintain strict confidentiality regarding all client information and legal matters handled by the firm. Any breach of confidentiality will result in immediate termination of the engagement and potential legal action.

These positions are part-time mostly desk review with a commitment of open-end Specific terms regarding work hours and schedules will be outlined in the employment contract this prequalification period from is 2024-2027
