Garowe, 15 September 2025 – Gaashaan Legal And Consultancy Services in collaboration with the Garowe Municipality and the international organization NRC (Norwegian Refugee Council), held an awareness-raising event to launch a legal awareness campaign for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Garowe District. The event took place in the Hoodaale IDP settlement in Garowe.
The purpose of the event was to kick off a series of legal awareness sessions and provide free legal aid services for IDPs in Garowe District. The initiative aims to improve legal knowledge and understanding among IDPs, particularly those living in the Auuraan Jiingadaha and Jawle 2 settlements.
The campaign was officially launched by the Head of the IDPs Department of Garowe Municipality, alongside representatives from Gaashaan Legal and Consultancy Services. A total of 50 people, including men, women, and camp leaders, directly benefited from the awareness session.
During the event, lawyers from Gaashaan Legal and Consultancy Services shared key legal awareness messages related to the fundamental rights of IDPs. In addition, cases requiring free legal aid support were registered.
At the conclusion, IDP leaders and participants jointly expressed their gratitude to the Garowe Municipality, Gaashaan Legal staff, and NRC for collaborating to implement this awareness initiative, and they requested that such efforts be continued.
