Our highly effective and efficient litigation department team deals with a wide range of contentious matters arising from commercial and civil interactions. In particular, the department deals with the following key areas:

Providing legal services for the most vulnerable people, particularly offering pro bono legal services for IDPs, refugees, and host communities.

 

The services we offer include:

  1. Prosecution and defense of subrogation and other insurance-related claims
  2. Handling contentious banking and company matters
  3. Industrial and labor-related litigation
  4. Protecting human rights by representing and defending individuals before the courts, advocating for vulnerable groups, and promoting gender equality in legal opportunities
  5. Resolving family conflicts and other family matters
  6. Enforcement of securities such as mortgages, charges, guarantees, hire purchase contracts, and chattel mortgages
  7. Enforcement of intellectual property rights including patents, trademarks, service marks, copyrights, trade secrets, industrial designs, geographic indications, and folklore
  8. Judicial review and public law litigation
  9. Consultancy services for contentious commercial transactions
  10. Handling consumer protection and professional negligence claims
  11. Recovering secured and unsecured debts through judicial proceedings
  12. Handling prosecution, defense, and representation in subrogation and other insurance-related claims
  13. Enforcing civil rights through prosecution and defense in cases of tortious liability
  14. Providing legal assessments and other provisional legal services for UN, international, and national organizations, as well as business groups.”

 

 

The department also undertakes consultancy services in areas such as labour law, regulatory framework, formation, management and reorganization of business enterprise as well as developing and reviewing organizational policies and procedures by adjusting Somalia domestic law and international Laws.

The litigation team, which also serves as the debt recovery unit, has gained considerable experience in bankruptcy, winding up proceedings, and receivership in Somalia. Some of our advocates have been appointed as receivers and managers of several institutions.
